Pharma-Pen, Inc. Honored with MDEA Design Award

April 7, 2005

Pharma-Pen, Inc. is also very pleased to announce that our Confi·Dose™ product group has been officially declared a winner in the eighth annual Design Excellence Awards sponsored by the Medical Device and Diagnostic Industry magazine. Each of the thirty winners of this prestigious award will receive either a gold or silver recognition in a formal ceremony held June 14 during the Medical Design & Manufacturing East 2005 Conference and Exposition at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City.

The MDEA is the premier awards program for the medical technology community. It recognizes the achievements of medical device manufacturers, their suppliers, and the many people behind the scenes--engineers, scientists, designers, and clinicians-who are responsible for the groundbreaking innovations that are changing the face of healthcare. MDEA-winning entries excel in the areas of product innovation, design and engineering achievement, end-user benefit, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing and healthcare delivery. A comprehensive review of the entries was performed by an impartial, multidisciplinary panel of third-party jurors with expertise in biomedical engineering, human factors, industrial design, medicine, and diagnostics.

Pharma-Pen, Inc. is thrilled to be named as one of the winners of this esteemed award and proud to be named in the same company as world re-knowned medical suppliers such as Eli-Lilly and 3M. Our design team, headed by company president Richard D. Gillespie, have worked for months perfecting the design of our Confi·Dose™ product and they are to be congratulated on earning this honor. Pharma-Pen, Inc. would also like to express our gratitude to the people of Acxess Spring (Riverside, CA), Hogan & Hartson LLP (Washington, DC), Pinnacle Precision Inc. (Logan, UT), and Pleasant Precision Inc. (Kenton, OH) who worked side by side with our team to achieve this goal.
In addition to Confi·Dose™ , Pharma-Pen, Inc. is developing another product family intended for injecting standard unit doses of drugs or biologics. Whereas Confi·Dose™™ is hand filled, this group is designed to be filled in the sterile filling suite of the drug manufacturer. These products are being developed with a grant from National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Other injection systems are in earlier stages of development.
